This riparian ecosystem of almost 57,000 acres sits between the Chihuahuan and Sonoran Deserts, providing a safe habitat for Arizona wildlife. Not only is this area home to 100 different types of birds, but it is also a pivotal stop for 250 species of migrating birds as well. Some of the most common species are Yellow Warblers and Wilsons Warblers, although it is also possible to see Common Black Hawks and Osprey on their way south to Mexico. In addition to the excellent birding opportunities, guests can also go hiking, horseback riding, and hiking. There are over 250 historical sights in the park to check out, including the Spanish Presidio Santa Cruz de Terrenate fortress and the San Pedro ranch house.
