Coleman Bay Area Details

On the northeastern side of Aialik Bay, Coleman Bay beckons with spectacular scenery: sheer cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and a short hiking path at the back of the cove to views of Resurrection Bay and the Harding Icefield. The Aialik Bay Ranger Station is located in a small cove just south of Coleman Bay. The rangers live here, so don't hesitate to contact them in an emergency, but please respect their privacy. There is a small beach to the north of the ranger station that provides decent camping, although it's a bit of a snug spot. It has a reliable water source, but no food-storage locker, so food must be hung in the trees around the beach. This campsite can be closed due to nesting black oystercatchers during the summer. There is a mooring in Coleman Bay, perhaps the best place to anchor in Aialik Bay, but the mooring buoys are not maintained, so don't place too much trust in them.
