Wonder Lake Campground Details
Wonder Lake Campground offers a pretty remote camping experience without actually having to camp out in the Denali backcountry. Looming over both lake and campground is the massive Mount McKinley, which actually is 26 miles away but feels closer. Wonder Lake, located at mile 84.4 of Denali Park Road, has 28 tent-only campsites, and can only be accessed by the park's Camper Bus. It has the luxury of potable running water and flush toilets (one of which is wheelchair-accessible), but bring plenty of bug spray since the mosquitos near the lake have a fearsome reputation. The campground also has a picnic shelter. No campsites are specifically designated as accessible, though most are level. The campground amphitheater is accessible via level paths, surfaced with well-compacted gravel. There are benches in the campground amphitheater, but people with mobility or physical issues should arrive early to ensure a seat. Wonder Lake is open mid-June to mid-September. Fees are $16 per night. As with most Denali campgrounds, reservations can be made [online](http://www.reservedenali.com). There is a $6 booking fee per reservation. Cancellations must be made by 11 a.m. the day before your stay in order to receive a refund (cancellation fees apply).
