Camp Denali / Denali North Face Lodge Details
This pair of privately owned wilderness lodges offer rustic but comfortable lodging to Denali National Park visitors who venture to the end of Denali Park Road and Kantishna between June and September. At Camp Denali, guests stay in individual cabins with wood stoves and propane lights; water comes from a pump outside the door, and the bathrooms are outhouses. The main lodge and dining hall are just a few minutes' walk away. If you want something a bit more modern, the North Face Lodge has 15 conventional hotel rooms with twin or queen beds. A narrated bus ride along the 92-mile park road is included in the price of your stay. One arrived, guests are welcome to set off on their own for day hikes around the Kantishna area or join one of the daily expert-led guided hikes offered by the lodge. The lodge also has canoes at nearby Wonder Lake for guest use, and bikes and fishing gear to loan. Dining here is far from summer-camp grub -- you'll enjoy three-course meals filled with locally sourced ingredients like Alaskan salmon and crab bisque. There's no bar or, indeed, alcohol sold at all, but guests are welcome to bring their own. Stays are for three, four, or seven nights only. And you'll pay gold-rush prices for the privilege: you can't even get in the door for under $1,000 per night (based on double occupancy). Still, it's a unique opportunity to experience Denali as few do, if you can afford it. For more information, see [http://campdenali.com/](http://campdenali.com/)
