It's a mostly flat, 2.5-mile one-way trip from the Wonder Lake Campground to the McKinley River, passing through meadows and spruce forest and near ponds along the way. Don't assume that bug spray is sufficient if you go: bring the recommended head-net, too, to avoid being a movable feast. The trailhead is off the road to Wonder Lake Campground; the trail itself is over native soil, rocks and roots with some plank sections. The grade in some sections is up to 15%.
