Halfway Hut Details

When it was built in 1931, the Halfway Hut was meant to serve as just that - a midway overnight stopping point for ski tourists traveling to Skoki Ski Lodge in Banff National Park's Lake Louise region. The Halfway Hut is located on a level, grass-covered shelf surrounded by mature spruce trees in the Ptarmigan Valley. The hut serves as an important landmark to hikers, backpackers, skiers and snowshoers who are making their way through the area, and is used today as a day shelter. The Halfway Hut is listed on Canada's Historic Places and the Canadian Register, and is a Federal Heritage Building.
