Canal Visitor Center Details
This unassuming restored house located near the northern end of the park is half general information center, providing maps and guides, half museum. The museum portion of the Center offers a unique look into the history and workings of the Ohio & Erie Canal through in-depth exhibitions and live demonstrations. Saddling Lock 38, part of the building was once used as a waiting area for passengers on boats passing through the canal, and during the summer season, museum staff stage working-lock demonstrations—complete with 19th century costuming. Located on Canal Road off Hillside Road. This large parking lot has spaces for approximately 100 vehicles. There is a small picnic area and a semi-permemant restrooms.
