The route climbs up to Sourdough Ridge and then drops into aptly named Huckleberry Basin. Continue through meadows and forests, keeping an eye out for deer and mountain goats, and then find the lake in an open forest at 2.5 miles. Trail stats: 5 miles; 1,000 feet of elevation gain.
