The small town of Yucca Valley sits right on Joshua Tree's northwestern edge. Main thoroughfare California State Route 62 (Twentynine Palms Highway) runs east-west through town and is the access point for Joshua Tree visitors. The closest entrance to the park from Yucca Valley is Park Blvd., about eight miles east in the even smaller town of Joshua Tree. There area number of hotels, gas stations and grocery stores in the town, most of them right on Twentynine Palms Hwy.
