Panorama Trail Details
Book-ended by the Glacier Point and Mist Trails, this less-traveled trail makes for memorable views of some of the park's less-celebrated but still awesome sights. After a few crowded spots where the trail intersects more with popular hikes, it becomes a reasonably easy walk through rough patches of manzanita and dense forests. The sunny trail is rocky in a few places, but long switchbacks and a few stair steps make the largely downhill walk a bit easier. If the views of roaring Illilouette Fall aren't exquisite enough, there is an unmarked trail to the stunning Panorama Point about a half-mile from the bridge over Illilouette Creek. In the summer, hikers may purchase a one-way bus ticket to Glacier Point ($25/adults, $23/seniors over age 62, $15/kids ages 5-12) and hike down. Reservations are required; visit a Delaware North (DNC) tour desk for details. In the winter, this trail is very difficult due to significant snow.
