Glacier Point Details
The short walk to the point quickly gives way to an exposed tableland of yellow quartzite, granite, and grey schist surrounded by a walled embankment and a Ponderosa pine backdrop. From here, there are the most breathtaking views easily accesible in the High Sierras: the Merced River meandering through the valley, green meadows, roaring falls, and the looming summits of Half Dome and Clouds Rest. The point is reachable from a number of trails, from a short, easy walk to the steep, strenuous Four-Mile Trail and the rocky Panorama Trail. Trailhead: from the terminus of Glacier Point Road
