Foothills Visitor Center Details
Stop by the Foothills Visitor Center, located only 1 mile north of the Ash Mountain Entrance. Here you can find an exhibit on the Sierran foothills and explore the diverse biology of the park. If you plan on venturing into the wilderness, this visitor center has a self-service kiosk where you can obtain wilderness permits and reservations. Additionally, you'll fin a store where you can purchase books, maps, hats and other education material. If you need a bear canister (if you are going into the backcountry, bring one!) then you can either buy or rent one here as well. There are also pay phones, restrooms and first aid available The Foothills Visitor Center is open year round, from 8:30am to 4:30pm and can be reached at (559) 565-4212.
