Hospital Rock Picnic Area Details
Hospital Rock Picnic area is located along the Generals Highway along the middle fork of the Kaweah River. Here you will find a large, handicap accessible picnic area as well as restrooms. If you are in the mood for a quick stroll after lunch, you'll find a short trail built by the Civilian Conservation Corps that leads to a cascade. Be careful though, as the rocks are slippery ands drownings often occur here. And, as always, store food in bear canisters as you never "who" else is hanging around looking for lunch too. If you are at all curious about the local history, take a stroll across the street from the picnic area to explore ancient Native American pictographs. Archeologists believe the area was occupied by the Western Mono Indians as far back as 1350 A.D.
