St. Mary Campground Details
St. Mary Campground is unusual in that it's one of only two in Glacier National Park where you can reserve sites in advance during the summer. It's also open year-round. The campground is the largest on the east side of the park, offers interpretative programs, and is near the St. Mary Visitor Center, where you can get more information on the park and catch a shuttle to travel Going-to-the-Sun Road. There are 148 sites, including a loop that is generator-free. The campground offers flush toilets, sinks with running water and showers. Just outside the park boundaries there are restaurants, gift shops, camp stores, gas and a grocery store. To reserve a site, visit [recreation.gov](http://www.recreation.gov/). Sites not reserved are first-come, first-served, and from early September through the end of May, all sites are first-come, first-served. There is no water in the campground from April 1 through late May, and from mid-September through November, when camping costs $10. From June through mid-September, sites cost $23 a night. Glacier is bear country, and black bears and grizzlies can frequent the campground. Food must be properly stored at all times.
