Lookout Rock Details
One of the shortest trails in Olympic National Park, this easy, scenic trail both begins and ends with wide, magnificent vistas. Leaving the overlook at the trailhead, which features the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the city of Victoria, and the Cascade Mountains, the wide, paved trail winds gently through an evergreen forest studded with moss-covered boulders, bearberry, alpine lavender, and low salal before reached its terminus at Lookout Rock. From this round, concrete overlook there are fantastic sweeping views across the forested sides of Morse Creek Valley plunging some 1,000 feet below, the eastern end of Hurricane Ridge, and the towering summits of Round and Burnt Mountains.
