Deer Park Road Details
Open seasonally, this winding, 18-mile gravel road leads to the Deer Park area of Olympic, with its tents-only campground and several hiking trails. The road is open from spring to fall, depending on snow and ice conditions. Even in the best conditions, the last nine miles of the drive are bumpy, twisting, and narrow, so take your time. RVs and trailers are not permitted on the road. The Deer Park ranger station is a good source of information for your visit. The campground has 14 sites and fire pits, and toilets, but no drinkable water. There are four main day-hiking trails here: the half-mile Rain Shadow loop to the top of Blue Mountain, a 7.4-mile trail to Observation Point, the strenuous Three Forks hike, and the 4.3-mile journey down to Slab Camp via the Deer Ridge trail.
