During the last ice age, a giant ice sheet from Canada descended on the Olympic Range, forming a dam beside Round Mountain that trapped meltwater from the Olympic glaciers, forming ancient Lake Morris. When the ice sheet retreated, the lake drained from the Morse Creek Valley.
