The Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site is located in the Sweet Auburn neighborhood of Atlanta, Ga., and includes several sites associated with the life and accomplishments of the civil-rights leader. King's father preached at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, and King Jr. was baptized, ordained, and preached here himself. This was also where MLK's funeral was held after his assassination in 1968. Other sites include Freedom Hall, home of the King Center and King's gravesite; Atlanta's Fire Station #6, which tells the story of desegregation of the city's fire department; and the King Birth Home at 501 Auburn Avenue, which can be visited on ranger-led tours. Other attractions include the "I Have a Dream" International World Peace Rose Garden and the "International Civil Rights Walk of Fame."
