Sope Creek Details

For an easy hike that the whole family can enjoy, head the banks of the Chattahoochee River in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. This 1.5-mile scenic loop that leads around the park is far less crowded than other hikes in the area, and the shallow waters and tranquil surroundings are perfect for a quiet afternoon in nature. One of the highlights along the way is an old paper mill that was used to print Confederate currency during the Civil War. The building, now mostly in ruins and covered in a thick tangle of vines and foliage, is an intriguing site to learn more about Georgias history.
