Lake Verna Details

Although this massive alpine lake is not particularly difficult to reach, the trail leading to it is especially long, and takes its time reaching its destination. Beginning on level, smooth terrain, it passes Adams Falls, marshy meadows and woodland streams before rising steeply and climbing to Lone Pine Lake, a smaller, slightly less stunning body of water. From here, the climb continues until reaching the lake's outlet stream and its western shores. Surrounded by the towering summits of Mt. Craig, Isolation Peak, and Mt. Alice, the lake is a popular place to watch wildlife, relax, fish, and set up a backcountry camp (backcountry permit required), as well as a place to just take in the beauty of the wilderness.
