Colorados deepest lake was practically made for outdoor adventure. Because its waters come from melting snow off the Continental Divide, it is always full no matter what month of the year you choose to visit (although summer is the best if you plan to go swimming). The Rocky Mountains surround the lake on three sides, which means you can also enjoy spectacular views your entire visit. The main swimming beach is on the northern side of the lake. There are several picnic tables, a grassy lawn, and even a boat rental shop in case you want to go kayaking or paddleboarding. You can swim right off the shores or dive from the small pier that jets into the water.
