Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach Details

Although this beach has been a popular tourist attraction since the late 1880s, it looks far different than how it is today. During WWII, it was heavily used as a training base, and by the 1980s, it was mostly eroded and left abandoned. However, sand from San Francisco Bay was pumped into the park, restoring the beach and transforming it back to a lively destination for tourists and locals. Now, it is a 2.5-mile-long beach with sandy shores for swimming, sunbathing, and windsurfing. You can also visit the Crab Cove Visitor Center, which houses a museum and aquarium.
