This site preserves many buildings from when San Diego was part of Spanish California, known as the San Diego Presidio, primarily from 1821 to 1872. A few of the oldest buildings include a schoolhouse, courthouse, newspaper shop, and tobacconist. Many of the businesses also put on live demonstrations, including the blacksmith shop and telegraph office.
