Montana de Oro State Park Details

Spanish for "Mountain of Gold," this park surprisingly is not related to the California Gold Rush. Instead, it gets its name from the vibrant gold wildflowers that grow across the 8,000 acres of land. In addition to the flower fields, the parks landscape is also comprised of coastal shoreline, flat plains, rolling hills, and steep canyons. At its center is the magnificent Valencia Peak, a 1,347-foot tall mountain perfect for an early morning hike. From the top, you will have sweeping views of the park and of the Central Coast. Other activities include mountain biking, horseback riding, camping, and photography (especially at Submarine Rock on the coast).
