Morro Bay Details

The coast of this Central California bay is a designated Important Bird Area and a flourishing habitat for migratory birds. Over 20,000 shorebirds stop here during the winter, including 4,000 wintering Brants. In addition, you will also find pelicans, cormorants, grebes, gulls, and 30% of Californias Western Snowy Plover population. It is also worth walking down to Morro Rock, which sits on the northern part of the park near the entrance of the bay. This volcanic formation is the nesting ground for Peregrine Falcons.
