Despite its name, this local swimming spot thankfully is not too difficult to reach. A relatively easy 3-mile walk along the banks of the Amicalola River takes you to a small waterfall and swimming pool surrounded by rocky boulders and lush forest. This is the calmest section of the river, so it is ideal for families or those looking to spend a few hours wading in the water. Other parts of the river are more rugged. These are the best places for swimmers, although the rolling rapids do attract thrill-seeking rafters and tubers.
