Situated on 4,000 acres in Kankakee and Will Counties, Illinois Kankakee River State Park was established in 1938 on lands once inhabited by Illini and Miami Indians. Today, the park is host to campers, hunters, fishermen, and outdoor enthusiast looking to hike, mountain bike, and go horse riding in the beautiful scenery. In the winter, the park is open to cross-country skiers and snowmobilers. On a seasonal basis, a concession stand is located at Rock Creek and sells snacks, bait, firewood, and various camping supplies. Fishermen and hunters can also purchase their licenses there as well for deer, waterfowl, and other upland game.
