Boiling River Trail Details
One of the most popular-and relaxing-destinations in Yellowstone National Park, this unique thermal feature provides a chance to unwind and take in classic Yellowstone scenery. Boiling River is a 6-foot wide, 100-foot long area where a large hot spring flows into the Gardner River, creating hot-tub temperatures as it flows over travertine rocks downstream. The spring is suspected to be a part of the Mammoth Hot Springs, some 2 miles away. The trail leading to the area is flat and well maintained, following the Gardner River to the popular bathing spot. Due to unpredictable water levels, the area is not open to visitors until mid summer, and bathers can only swim during daylight hours.
