Chain of Ponds Public Land Details

Not only a beautiful spot to camp and enjoy the recreation the water has to offer, the Chain of Ponds Public Land offers visitors a trip back in time as well. Benedict Arnold passed through here in 1775 with a 1,100 man army on the way to fight the British in Quebec. The ponds here and the small waterways connecting them were the last leg of the journey. Though there is a campground, visitors can also enjoy remote camping on the pond shores for a true feeling of what the life of these soldiers trek may have been like.
