Bigelow Preserve Public Land Details

Bigelow Preserve Public Land is a whopping 36,000 plus acres of lakes, rivers, diverse forests, and even an entire mountain range. The north border is created by Flagstaff Lake, a 20,000-acre waterway part of the historic Northern Forest Canoe Trail. Used in the early days as a trade route, it is the longest waterway trail in the U.S. stretching 700 miles. This isn't the only significant route passing through here though, the Appalachian Trail also takes hikers partially through the preserve, including a visit to six of the seven major peaks that are part of the Bigelow Range.
