A lucky Yellowstone tourist was honored by having this mountain pass named after her: Ida M. Craig Wilcox was the first traveler to cross the pass on the road built by road engineer Capt. Hiram Chittenden in 1891. The Grand Loop Road traverses the pass at an elevation of 8,262 feet, connecting Old Faithful and West Thumb.
