Laurel Falls Trail Details
This well-maintained trail could be considered the most popular in the park, even though most visitors don't complete the entire trail. Paved, and fairly level, the trail leads to the 75-foot Laurel Falls; the most visited falls in the Smokys, which falls in multiple levels over a worn stone cliff. The trail continues, unpaved, through virgin forest until it meets its terminus, an old fire tower-turned-research tower on Cove Mountain. The tower is closed to the public, but there are decent views from the trail as it runs along the ridge leading to the tower.
