Maswik Lodge Details

Maswik Lodge is a contemporary lodging complex set among several acres of Ponderosa pine forest, about a quarter mile from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Named for a Hopi Kachina said to guard the canyon, the property blends modern accommodations with a site rich in history. The original motor lodge was built in 1927 by the Fred Harvey Company and the Santa Fe Railroad to serve the growing number of visitors arriving by automobile. While most early cabins were replaced in the 1970s and 1980s, the original stone pillars remain as a nod to its past. Today Maswik offers 280 rooms and includes a main lodge building with the registration desk, gift shop, Maswik Food Court, and Pizza Pub. Rooms in Maswik South are located in four two story buildings and include standard guest rooms and kitchenette units. Standard rooms feature either two queen beds or one king bed, along with a mini refrigerator, coffeemaker, air conditioning, safe, satellite television, telephone, and hair dryer. Kitchenette rooms add a full size refrigerator, microwave, two burner cooktop, basic cookware and utensils. All rooms include a small outdoor patio or balcony. Elevators are available in the Maswik South buildings. Parking is shared with all South Rim visitors and may require use of satellite lots during peak periods. Operating dates are subject to change.
