Administration Building Details
In 1935, construction began on the Administration Building, built to support Canada's first national park. The building quickly became a symbol of the emerging ideals, at the time, of protecting and enhancing designated wilderness areas for the pleasure and benefit of the Canadian people. The Tudor Gothic Revival-style building was perceived to be harmonious with its mountain setting, and local building materials were used in its construction whenever possible. The Administration Building (a Federal Heritage Building) is still in use today, and inside offers touch-screen technology to help visitors discover Canada and its inventors and artists. Outside, the Cascade Garden is lovely to walk through when in town. Both the building and the garden are easily walkable from downtown Banff.
