Icefields Parkway Details

Though the Icefields Parkway is 230 kilometers one way (142.9 miles), bicyclists can opt to ride a small portion, half, or the entire route - the choice is yours! Whichever you choose, the Icefields Parkway is often called the one of the most beautiful scenic roads in the world, so you're sure to enjoy your ride. Leaving from the Lake Louise Visitor Centre, the parkway follows along the Continental Divide and over two mountain passes. Along the way, you'll ride past tranquil lakes, towering mountains, cascading waterfalls and magnificent glaciers, all the while on a wide shoulder (in most places) so you can distance yourself from the passing cars. To better plan your route, check in at the Lake Louise Visitor Centre and ask for the Icefields Parkway brochure so you can plot your ride accordingly. Trail guides and cycling maps are available, and be sure to follow the park's rules and regulations to make the most of your ride: be bear aware; ride on designated trails; avoid riding during extreme conditions; help preserve the trails' quality; know your limits; yield to other riders; and, of course, leave no trace. **Trail Type**: Out and Back **Difficulty**: Moderate to difficult **Distance:** 460 kilometers round trip (285.8 miles)
