The Alligator Details
Unlike most of Bryce Canyon's named features, the Alligator is a fin, not a hoodoo (although eventually it will erode into one). Capped with hard, light-colored Dolomite sandstone, this formation resembles an alligator when viewed from above, such as from Bryce Point.
