Ennerdale Water Details

The most westerly and remote of the Lake District's lakes, Ennerdale Water is 2.5 miles long and 3/4-mile wide. It's a deep glacial lake, at 148 feet, and because of its isolated location, the waters are exceptionally clear. Ennerdale is the only lake that doesn't have a road running along its full length, and offers visitors some easy walks lovely views. There are a number of walks, including a lakeshore path, mostly beginning from the Bowness Knott parking lot, at the end of the road from Ennerdale Village. Canoeing and kayaking are allowed; paddlers are asked to park at either Bowness Knott or Bleach Green parking lots and carry their boats to the water.
