Elk Prairie Trail Details
The Elk Prairie Trail will lead you in a circle along the edge of Elk Prairie. Access this trail at the marked trailhead in Elk Prairie Campground or via the Cathedral Trees Trail. Although you will be impressed by the size of the trees at the start and finish of the loop, the trails is mostly in non-redwood forest. However, it is still worth the trip because this is the area of the park with the most dense Roosevelt Elk population. Keep an eye out for elk as well as signs of their presence; you can usually see marks from antler rubbing and browsing on the trees along the trail.
