Elk Prairie Campground is the southernmost campground in the park, with quick access to great hiking trails. Some of the park's oldest redwoods, including the "Big Tree," are a short walk from the campground. Elk Prairie is located six miles north of Orick, Calif., on Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway, a road within the park that connects to US 101 on both ends. The campground has 75 tent and RV sites, with designated hiker/biker sites available. There are no RV hook-ups available, but the campground does have hot showers, accessible restrooms, picnic tables, fire pits, food lockers, and a visitor center. The campground has a vehicle limit length of 27 feet. Elk Prairie Campground is open year-round and has easy access to over 70 miles of hiking and biking trails. All four park campgrounds take reservations in advance: call 1-800-444-7275. Reservations are highly encouraged for stays between Memorial Day and Labor Day. All campgrounds charge the same rates: $35 per night, with a discounted rate of $17.50 per night for California State Pass, Federal Pass, and Senior Pass Holders.
