Wolves Details

Interestingly enough, wolves are native to Yellowstone National Park, but were largely killed off under the guise of predator control in the early 21st century. Today, wolves are being restored to the park, and a number of packs of Rocky Mountain grey wolves have experienced reestablishment success. Most visitors mistake coyotes for wolves, as wolves are most often seen during cooler months in some of the more remote areas of the park. The best place to see them is between Mammoth and Cooke City.
