Geyser Details
Yellowstone has more geysers than any other place in the world. Geysers are essentially hot springs where heat and water pressure combine to create periodic explosions of hot water and steam through a crack in the earth. They are fed by rainwater that seeps through the ground and gets heated by the molten magma below. The water deepest in the earth boils, building up pressure that eventually pushes the cooler water above back through the geyser opening and into the air. Old Faithful is the most famous of Yellowstone's many geysers.
