Absaroka Range Details

Composed entirely of volcanic rocks, the Absaroka mountain area is a vast uplifted plateau that forms the eastern edge of Yellowstone National Park. Some say the higher elevations of the Absarokas resembles the moors of Scotland. Eagle Peak, high point of Yellowstone National Park, is part of the Absarokas, which has eight mountains that rise about 12,000 feet.
