Phelps Lake Overlook Details

Hikers traverse the moraine trail to an overlook that offers beautiful views of Phelps Lake. A one-mile, moderate climb through lodgepole-pine forest will bring you to the overlook, which is more than 500 feet above the surface of Phelps Lake. You can access the Valley Lake Trail from the Phelps Lake Overlook trail. The trail begins at the Death Canyon Trailhead, which is located off Moose-Wilson Road; the access road is rough and may require a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
