Amphitheater Lake Details
A strenuous trail, but hikers are rewarded by the views of beautiful meadows and glacial lakes. Expect long, moderate climbs, with some switchbacks, most of the way to Amphitheater Lake. Taking the short side trail to Surprise Lake is recommended. After passing backcountry campsite you'll reach Amphitheater Lake with Disappointment Peak looming above (early climbers mistook this 11,618-foot peak for the top of Grand Teton). The trail begins at the Lupine Meadows Trailhead.
