Wolf Creek Trail Details
This pretty, seldom-used trail offers easily accessible long, open views from a smooth, wide trail lined with purple lupine, Indian paintbrush, yarrow, and alpine strawberries. Originally a road connecting the Elwha Valley to Hurricane Ridge, the trail offers breathtaking views from beginning to end. Hurricane Hill, Unicorn and Griff Peak, and Vancouver Island are visible from the trailhead, and as the path winds through a sunny, protected meadow, the Elwha River and Long Creek valleys stretch out some 4,000 feet below. Just before the trail leaves the meadow the glacier-capped summit of Mt. Carrie comes into view, providing one of the closest views of the 6,995-foot mountain. While the trail does continue, most day hikers consider this point to be the trail's terminus.
