South Fork Hoh River Trail Details
This seldom-traveled trail is one of Olympic National Park's best kept secrets, tucked away in a remote area that's known less for hiking and more for superb salmon and steelhead fishing. The trail runs through the wild canyon at the base of Hoh Peak, and although it contains little elevation change and virtually no views of any of Olympic's majestic peaks, it features undisturbed, lush rainforest canopies, gentle streams, and ancient Douglas firs over 250 feet tall. The trail is marginally maintained, and begins to deteriorate toward the end; most hikers use the 40-foot boulder found around mile four as its terminus.
