Sol Duc River Trail Details
Paralleling the Sol Duc River, this broad, smooth trail travels through a shady, dense forest of hemlocks, Douglas, and silver fir as it makes its way to the magnificent Sol Duc Park on the north side of High Divide. Following the river, the trail passes Sol Duc Falls, where the water leaps over sandstone barriers into a narrow, cavernous canyon, and slowly ascends out of the valley into subalpine terrain. Here, the views get better and better as elevation increases, and on clear days it is possible to see as far as the Pacific Ocean.
