Obstruction Point-Deer Park Trail Details

Following the highest trail in the Olympic Mountains over the highest part of Hurricane Ridge, this surprisingly undemanding trail weaves through spectacular subalpine meadows, the beauty of which are hardly diminished by the staggeringly beautiful views that continually arise along the trail. The trail, which is often studded with patches of lingering snow, gently rises and falls through the saddles of the surrounding peaks, occasionally using switchbacks and rope supports in particularly tricky areas. Climbing the slopes of both Elk Mountain and Maiden Peak, the trail features breathtaking views of Grand Creek Valley, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Grand and Moose Lakes, Blue Mountain, Mt. Carrie, the Needles, Unicorn Peak, Vancouver Island, and many, many more before making the long descent to Deer Park.
