North Fork Sol Duc River Trail Details
Following the north fork of the Sol Duc River, the picturesque trail offers a quiet, remote journey through largely undisturbed forests and verdant valleys. The trail is generally well maintained for about 6 miles, leaving the last 3 mile heading toward North Fork Shelter in minor disrepair; hikers should be prepared for deep water fording and some mild bushwhacking. Follow this gentle branch of the Sol Duc, the trail climbs in and out of rainforest-like terrain filled with bigleaf maples, sword and maidenhair ferns, Stika spruce, and moss-covered logs, occasionally leaving the river valley for shady hemlock and Douglas fir groves.
