Lillian River Trail Details
Departing from the Elwha Trail about 4.3 miles from its trailhead, this lesser-known trail ascends up the northern bank of the Lillian River, eventually dissipating into the wilderness after reaching a lovely riverside campsite. Because it lacks no true destination and is essentially just a pretty spur trail from the Elwha Trail, the trail bed can be poorly maintained at times, and requires multiple stream crossings as the trail weaves around old Douglas firs and small hemlocks in an area that still bears evidence of past forest fires. Occasional clearings in the forest often allow good views of Mount Carrie and Carrie Glacier.
